About us

Back then, Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFRPD) was the Department of Education, Experiment, and Research of the Ready Meal Production Agency - a governmental organization responsible for providing machines and tools for food production and experiment to Thai army in 1955. It was located in the areas of Kasesart University and the head of the said department was Professor Amara Bhumiratana. Later, the Ready Meal Production Agency established a large factory at Ban Pong, Ratchaburi. The Department of Education, Experiment, and Research, therefore, had no longer needed. The cabinet at that time, then, decided to transfer this department to be under the administration of Kasetsart University on September 30, 1968, where Professor Insi Chandrasatitya took the position of the President of Kasetsart University.

Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFRPD) has officially been established since September 30, 1968. The first director of the institute was Professor Amara Bhumiratana. IFRPD has contributed as a research organization cover food related works. We assist food industries and small manufacturers by applying technology to develop their products as well as provide technical services to food industries and governmental organizations to solve food problems.

IFRPD Policy

Research and Development

To conduct research and development with the goal of creating food innovation, as well as encouraging new generations of researchers to obtain the ability to produce research in conjunction with the private sector. In addition, to support the KU Food Science Park and encourage the publication of research results in both domestic and international journals in order to establish a food industry research and development network with external organizations, particularly the private sector. Furthermore, resources from both local and international sources will be sought to support research activities.

Academic Service

To expand academic service capacity, generating income and developing human skills, constructing an resource management system for effective academic service, and promoting academic services that respond to society and community.

Educational Support Service

Collaboration with the department/faculty on educational activities, as well as providing resources and equipment for thesis and internship preparation. Prepare the agency to assist students in completing internships and conducting research in order to meet the university's policy of sharing resources.

Preservation of Arts and Culture

To promote activities that preserve arts and culture, as well as activities that develop personnel interactions in order to maintain a positive university identity.

Management

To promote effective and correct management, enable institutions to support themselves, focus on developing staff involvement and enhancing information systems and databases for management in all missions, and promote the Institute's research in its primary purpose. Develop people potential in order to be ready to enter the ASEAN community, as well as public relations in order to be known and accepted in society.
